Welcome to our new classroom members.

Team ten has had some new people come into our class.  We were thrilled to welcome them into our class and they are learning new exciting games that we do within our learning rotations.  Here is a picture of some of our new children playing a reading game called rhyming houses.

Writing Poems

In Room 10 we have been looking at poems and identifying the nouns, adjectives and verbs.  From the poem Bus Stop we changed two verbs and three adjectives.  Then we published these on the computer.  Here are two of our poems.

Star of the week

Zara read a “ Big Book “ to the class.
Zara used a loud voice and pointed to each word so we could “ follow with our eyes.”
It is very brave and involves lots of thinking and practise to read to an audience.  You are a “ Learning Lion”.
Team Ten walked down to visit the French Bakery.
We said " Bonjour." Patrice greeted us in French and asked what we wanted to buy?
" Je voudrais, s'vous plait, une pettit pain chocolate, " we replied. We had been practising our reply. Then we handed over our money and Patrice handed us each a bag with a chocolate crossiant in.

Going back to school, after visiting the bakery, we felt very unbelievable.
As  6 year olds, we had done a brave thing. What can we do next?????

Tuesday 6 March 2012

We have been brave in the water and trying new things. Watch this to see the Lions in action.

"I felt happy because I got wet in the waves, "said Ryleigh.
"I felt good because I was brave and went in the water," said Ryder.
"I felt happy because I went on the boogie boards," said Pera.
"I felt strong because I had to save a life guard with the rescue tube," said Riley.

LEO THE LION’S
LETTERBOX

I think  Leo  would like a green letter box because it would remind him of  playing on the grass and green is my favourite colour.
It would be number 10 because we are in  room 10.
He is cool, and he is a friend to  me .
Riley

 Meet Leo the Lion.

This is Leo. He sleeps in our classroom because he likes school.
He is our friend and learning buddy. Leo knows it is important to gather data through all your senses, so he has

  • big eyes for looking
  • great ears for listening to others
  • a big nose to smell
  • four paws to feel and touch things
  • a pink tongue to taste
I like Leo because he writes us letters and listens to us read. He is wise and helps us solve tricky problems by challenging us to think about our thinking.
